To mark World Diabetes Day, the SNP Bridge in Bratislava will light up in blue on 14 November 2026. We invite you to join us for a symbolic walk through the city.

14 November was officially established as World Diabetes Day in 2006, when the United Nations adopted its resolution. On this day we commemorate the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who discovered insulin.

To mark World Diabetes Day, the civic association Diador, together with Bratislava City Hall, has prepared a symbolic event to draw attention to this disease, which is becoming ever more common: lighting up the SNP Bridge in blue.

The symbol of diabetes is the blue circle, which represents the unity of the global diabetes community. The colour blue stands for the sky that unites all nations and is the colour of the United Nations flag.
